Change the game mechanics events
I've always thought it would be cool if Guild Wars had special weekends or events where they actually changed some of the mechanics of the game to make things interesting for a couple of days. Examples:
Multiple elite skills
More, or less than 8 skill slots
More than 2 professions
More attribute points for higher investing in skill classes
I would think most of these would apply to PvP only, because to add extra power to PvE would influence the market alot. In PvP, we would all have the same advantage/disadvantage, nobody could really use it to get ahead.

Some may be very hard to implement without major game engine changes (making over 2 professions work correctly or increasing the number of skill slots) or would require a TON of playtesting so it wouldn't end in a massive bugfest, and even if that wasn't a problem there would surely be LOADS of ridiculous degenerate shit builds coming from that, making PvP unplayable for the duration of that event. Imagine all the QQ from pr0 pvp'ers

Near impossible to do, since most of what they do for weekend events is purely cosmetic/reused from past years. The initial workload would be way too much for them.

I'm really sick of hearing that.
We have a Dev team that is dedicated to keeping this game alive and balancing it etc yet thats not happening.
Until certain issues are addressed which I bet most other people are waiting for (COUGHshadowformCOUGH) then the game, in terms of elite areas is just a boring speedclear >.>
Gief us 7 heroes :'(

I think its a good idea. They should actually do this, it would make things interesting.

Oh yeah, it's fantastic idea and we have rules against "it'll never happen!" posts, but some degree of reasonableness has to be exhibited when asking for things.
Like the thread that wanted z-axis movement in the game that was posted a few days ago: that would take a complete redesign of the entire game engine - basically a new game. Which is not possible. This request isn't quite as big or unreasonable as that, but it's very close.

I think just leave it at a 2 elite skills weekend..that would be cool and it wouldn't be that hard to implement. I mean comon..its probably like changing a 0 to a 1.

Ideas such as having a second elite skill should not be difficult, we can already have 2+ by capping them, t would simply mean changing a few numbers somewhere. Although it would probably have to apply to both PvP and PvE as the coding would be the same for both.
However any of those would encourage even more gimmicky builds and we would probably only see superspike builds on that weekend. Less skill slots could be interesting, but I belive it could be hard to implement into the game.

Always wanted to run a W/N with Contagion and Headbutt..... but /unsigned.
Regardless of the amount of work required for some of the ideas, the only point would be to create a 'new' game for a weekend. If you want to play a new game, there are tons of them out there, and several don't require monthly fees.

Are you implying that extra elites, professions, skills, or attribute points wouldn't influence PvP strongly at all?!

I won't mind any kind of festival arena with some weird rules.
But something that affects the whole game? Haha! No way.

There is no market in PvP. Everybody would be at an equal advantage/disadvantage, where in PvE the game would become much easier and result in all sorts of prices dropping. I think it would be alot of fun and make the game interesting again for a couple of days.

I know how much ppl get hard around here closing threads and all but please keep it in your pants. Zaishen keys can't be exploited that much because everybody is at the same advantage/disadvantage. It's not like changing the mechanics makes it easier for people to get faction. Zaishen elite and challenge is the only place this doesn't apply, but there is already a daily limit so it really wouldn't be effected.
Also, don't QQ about how hard it would be for developers to do this, first off, I know my shit when it comes to programming, second, this is purely for the sake of do you think this would be fun.

No, the already bad PvP meta would become even worse with even more gimmicky builds. At first people will say "Yay extra elite weekend" but within a few hours they will be saying "When will this crap be over?"

I love how you ignored my response. If you want to play a different game, then do so. GW (especially PvP) is about balance. Your idea throws balance out the window. Even for a short time frame, it makes the game play completely different.

I would like to see Anet try a 2 elite PvP weekend event just once to see what would happen.

1. Impossible
2. Balance is good.
If it wasn't impossible for the devs to implement this, it would be kind of fun in a seperate arena. It would need to be kept out of everything else, though.
